Old Poems
I was looking for a poem,
written long ago
but un-found.
I read another long forgotten
and found its cadence disliked
though nicely titled "Beginning".
The lay out and the form
was quite distasteful
but holds meanings still the same.
Though time has passed
I find my writings remain -
familiar.
Sad to stay
many have been lost
throughout the years.
Rewritten, trashed and tossed away
because, just because
time seems to change us.
Thoughts becoming unraveled,
confused, embittered
then forgiving, forgiven, forgotten.
Some poems, old poems,
despite their time of writing
return and live and thrive again better than before
Unchanged,
unaltered by time, life and circumstance
like old poems, still live, like the poets who write them.
