Old One Eye
My neighbor has this one eyed squirrel,
for which he cares a lot.
I've told him jokingly in the past,
he'd do fine in my pot.
He never grins when he replies,
"Old one eye's in my care".
He's fed by hand and talked to,
they're really quite a pair.
Old one eye seems to understand,
when Jim, his name does call.
He'll make bark fly to get to him,
at times he's been known to fall.
This one eyed squirrel is oh so proud,
that nuts he will not eat.
Unless picked out and fed by hand,
gently placed between his feet.
He knows that when his name is called,
a treat he's sure to get.
And in return all he must do,
is continue to be Jim's pet.
This squirrel is proud when visitors come,
for they get to see his show.
And when they leave, with belly full,
its up the tree he'll go.
