"old Love Became Insignificant"

I’m astonished by the way things can happen in life There I was offering her the best friend she could ever hope to have; But opportunity remained locked behind closed doors. And I wonder if Nostradamus perhaps lined up the stars? And it is that which affords a friend who has her ear such high regard? Perhaps logic dictates that my love might never have had substance. And the wind knocked down the notice; welcoming love’s tenants. Then the rain overtook the wind; and the floods became a menace. And caught up in a down pour; old lovers looked for shelter; With no where left for them to hide; revenge then rose to swelter. And as I sit here staring; at another effort blotched; My tears swell up to blur my sight; and I have no eyes to watch.
