Old Isn'T Easy

Old isn't easy.
Age chills the ardor in the blood,
Night gathers in the eyes,
Suffering leaks from the gaze
Of a soul grown tired of staring too closely at loss and hardships,
And regrets mound up in dusty piles
Like all the books one will never read,
And all the promises one has failed to keep.
Old isn't easy,
But nothing is truly lost that one has experienced,
Or suffered, or cared for,
And pain, or regret,
May be a consequence of
But not necessarily the only answer to love.
Old isn't easy,
And is only made more difficult by hanging on to
And making oneself hostage to a past
That never changes for anyone.

Your "Old Isn't Easy" is a wonderful/true write. I say, age is just a number. Love your ending. Have a great/blessed day writing away.........................

Thanks, Ilene. Fortunately, some of us, such as yourself, do manage to get better along with the other thing.
