Old House

OLD HOUSE

built in 1905
before i was born
i wonder
what were the owners like?
shadows are quick to reply

some nights
as i watch the tube
quick shadows tell
i am not the owner
am but a house guest an intruder

winter wearies
with the same old view
out my kitchen window
how many others before
how winter weary?

I have often wondered about the previous inhabitants of old houses and buildings. Another gem of a poem from you.

I don't know about the spooks, but it makes for a very interesting evening when the shadows dance. Love, daver

I can relate to this one Dave. Sometimes I see shadows or even form out of the corner of my eye, just enough to know I am not alone. You need one of those sun lamp things to cheer you this winter.

These are more lovely melancholy poems. I think if you changed the last line of the last one, and related it to yourself, that would make it even better! that is really cool, calling yourself an intruder! We are all intruders of very old houses!
