Old Games of Life

Have you ever played pick up sticks? Or just watched the rain and get bored Is Jump rope gone forever or does? Hop Scotch have new different rules I guess some kids today are still Playing hide and seek I can’t find them Climbing a tree or building a tree house Is out of the question they might get dirty Trading football cards is now big business We have taken it away from the kids Hula-hoop does not spin around any more Nor does the yo yo go down to the ground Are ant farms now only found underground? Is flag football dead in the parks? Are all games now just checkmate and no one wins Did we forget how to run through a sprinkler? Or drink water out of a hose not from a bottle Like babies do Has life become living in a box never talking My memories of yesteryear are fond The memories of today will be gone Disappearing games and fun the only memories they will have Will be, I forgot how many gigs did it took to play That game

I guess some kids today are still Playing hide and seek I can’t find them--I love that line!!! And it is 17 syllables which means it would make a nice Monoku. I do hope you will post that line again as a monoku and as a quote!

I hereby make this my POTD!i recall all The games you spoke of, The difference Bobby, is kids still play a lot. Just not the way we did. Many here play instruments. Tree houses are out. ))) Soccer, baseball, football, gymnastics are in. Most kids here are in organized groups. Add basketball tennis and hockey. Times change, games change. But the zest for life and action is in high gear. Camping, ziplining and wall climbing and Pool parties....a Fave Panagiota
