Old Friends

Sitting here with two old friends On the sofa, fast asleep Watching chests that rise and fall Thinking back when they were small Rescued from the pound for keeps Though they are my daughter’s pups Feel a bit like their my own Both Lyra and Lemony Spent extended time with me When circumstances kept them from her home I recall just saying, sure Wasn’t reason to discuss God must look on with a grin When we let his creatures in Like when he came and rescued us My two pups are getting old I’m aware; I don’t pretend There’s a time when they won’t be But for now, great company A visit with old friends

I love my dogs! I know God sent them to me. "God must look on with a grin When we let his creatures in" I feel this Jeff.

Heartfelt piece Jeff. My brother lost his beloved Pug Jeter today. Sad day for all of us.
