In 2026, Oktoberfest will last 16 days, from September 19 to October 4.
Oktoberfest In Munich (DHR)
When Autumn scenes arrive in Munich, Germany,
Exciting times bring visitors from far and near,
With people dancing, singing, mugs of beer held high,
In halls or tents, saluting patriotically-
Loving our Autumn festival with heartfelt cheers-
Lasting about two weeks with much to see and do.
Parades, arcades, and rides, much like a carnival,
Aglow with dancers in Bavarian-style dress!
Rides on the quaint, old-fashioned pretty carousels,
Together with the varied puppet shows, are fun;
Yes, even shooting galleries to test one's aim.
Laughter, cold beer in mugs are enjoyed by most;
If not one's taste, sweet wines are sold inside the tents.
Kept close by at hand, champagne, cocktails, as well
Especial, fresh-squeezed juices if one must abstain.
The German meals consist of many tastes and treats:
Hearty eaters stand round an ox roast on a spit;
Enjoyed is stewed chicken with potato dumplings.
Relished also, the Bratwurst, spaetzle, and baked beans,
Ending with the desserts, our rich, black forest cake-
Strudels filled with fruit and gingerbread creations.
No one goes hungry at our great Oktoberfest!
Of the fests held round the world, ours is the best!
To dance and sing with Autumn's spirits high and free
On field grounds in our town's center, bring us joy
Munich, where feasts have taken place since eighteen-ten.
Opens with wheeled carts and floats of costumed scenes
Reveals the promises of drink, loud songs, and dance.
Resounding well into the festive night, we sing,
Oh, happy times! Let us all toast to love and life!
We will party like there's no tomorrow!
