Oh, What Is Love

Having known
a hug, a kiss, a touch
a distant look... beckoning
I thought I knew love.
Sadly I learned they were
but a hug, a kiss, a touch.

I have caught on the wind
a pheromonal call
sensed a presence unseen
fell under its spell
succumbed to lust
but it was not love.

Oh, What is love?
a slippery moment
eluding our grasp,
a reciprocal emptiness
longing for fulfillment?

A hug, a kiss, a touch
A knowing....that this
                              .....is love.
