Notes About The Poem

The sponsor of the contest told me that Soup just closed out his contest a day earlier than expected, and so I might as well show this. Not sure if it would have won or not, but I spent two hours researching this history and writing the poem. MIght as well post it!

Oh, Mighty Is the Sword

Oh, Mighty is the Shield

Oh, mighty is the shield used by the man
Captain America. This great shield can
slice even through resistance of hard wind
and loss of it momentum can rescind
because of its concentric shape, and so
it is a weapon that the Cap can throw!

By accident this starred shield came to be
when its creator slept and did not see
the binding catalyst that made it great.
It was a substance none could duplicate!
Absorbing energy, it just makes more
and Cap can take a beating then from Thor!

The Captain merely stands on it, and he
is well protected by its energy.
Kinetic is this energy, and Cap
just stands on it, absorbing new impact!
It flaunts a star and stripes red, white and blue.
Not just a shield, it is a weapon too!

Oh, this was the poem you told me... Sad you couldn't enter it for the contest... Or did you enter Ria?... If so, best wishes in the contest... Big hugs... ~ Ani

Andrea, an interesting piece of writing and very sorry you could not enter the contest. I'm not an expert in poetic forms but I see 6 lines per stanza and plenty of rhyme. Well done. Both crafty and creative. Write on, Terry

It's metaphorical of a sort, cause image of guard we place in our defence take as much. Nicely done Andrea.
