Oh Dear, What Can the Matter Be

OH DEAR, WHAT CAN THE MATTER BE? Oh dear, what can the matter be My eyes have grown dim, I can hardly see Not a word you spoke, was I able to hear Even with a hearing aid stuck in my ear On the way to the bathroom, I stumbled and fell The bruise it caused is beginning to swell The worldly events beginning to unfold May cause some folks to fear for their soul But for all the years I have been on this earth I thank the Lord for giving me birth And I know that one day I will be leaving Friends and family will gather around grieving Saying things like, "He's in a much better place" "He seems to have died with a smile on his face" But until that day has happened to me I'll be saying, Oh dear, what can the matter be 3 February 2018 For the contest sponsored by Barry Stebbings

Thanks, Eve! You are a staunch supporter, and it doesn't go unnoticed. My late response is due to my being out of town until yesterday so I am trying to catch up. Forgiveness is a virtue, and I know from your poems and congratulatory notes that you are a virtuous lady. Thanks for being in my corner.

Thanks, Gordon! I needed to hear that. Often times, the simplest comments are the ones that give you that warm feeling because of the sincerity. This is one of those times! Yes, things are truly OK 'cause God is on my side. Be Blessed, my friend.

Thank you so kindly, Darlene. Sad, but realistic. But also joyful if one is a believer in Christ. I am so pleased to hear from you in response to my work. I look forward to it.

Great to hear from you, Bob. What a Blessing it is to me to call you my friend. You are always kind and thoughtful in your comments and words of encouragement. Martha and I are both well and I pray for you and Vera both --- you as the caregiver, and she as the recipient. God Bless you both!

Thank you, Jan. I know there is a little humor mixed with reality here, but somehow I thought I'd be like the chicken who laid an egg in the middle of the highway 'cause she 'wanted to lay it on the line. lol I do so much appreciate your comments. They are always sincere and uplifting.
