Of Times To Come

Of times to come

How sad it feels to see age struggle past,
It shuffles, slowly pained by aches unknown
Reminding me that soon the time must come
When youth has from this vibrant body flown.
Already time has taken yet its toll
Through years of toil in search of happiness,
But watching now I wonder would they share
My inner fears, or simply not care less?
Perhaps I'm wrong in what I think I see
Of thoughts that come from clouded, vacant eyes,
Contentment with the life that hobbles by
Would fill my heart with joy and sweet surprise.
Yet still I fear the future may just be,
A body slowly losing what was me.
