Of Then and Now

Today is the child
Born from the love making
Of yesterday
Facing shadows of tomorrow’s sun
Reflected by its Janus moon
Of remembrances
That freedom is not yet won
That we must get back to work soon
That this slow track is not the way

No how can we afford to linger a while
Only death is a sure promise
We don’t need dreams deferred
What we need are actualities
We must make it happen today
That tomorrow shall not know more sorrow:
Today is the child of yesterday…facing tomorrow’s sun
Whose shadows reflect Its Janus moon…of remembrances.
