Of Heart and Tears

Of heart and tears
(For zinzi)

You know my heart
You have been to the profundity of its core
You know every blemish on its walls
And the scars frayed by forged hope
You know its voice
The courage your smile brings to life
If you had not known my heart and it not you
Then the words I utter would be untrue
The credence of sorrow would mould in its chambers
For it does not know its keeper
But a prayer is said when dawn breaks
And gratitude is set upon the heavens.
For you know my heart and it knows your name
