"Fallen leaves lying on the grass in the November sun
bring more happiness than daffodils"
Looking back through the years, and the springtime of youth
Rewinding old songs, ...filled with moonlight and rain
The lyrics, were branches, a mere fantasy's, spoof
How deep grew the roots, where my own truth remained?
In the autumn of life, when my thoughts might unwind
There's a thin thread of light, through the leaves of the years
The sun shines much clearer, as if by design
with rays of contentment, without any fear
We become who we are, by just reaching the bar
By climbing the branches, and surviving each fall
We may have been reaching for the moon and the stars
But to learn how to fall, is the point of it all
So wide were our eyes when we looked to those stars,
But each falling leaf, we can keep, ....to be ours
