Of Ancient Things

Deep night
Minds feel the pull
   of ancient things
our spirits are challenged
by a past which is not yet dead
The clock hands on the wall
    continue to move
The world is continuing to change
The present is turning into the future
faster than we expected
Yet the pull of ancient things is not diminished
Faces from the past
   still shine in our minds
The years pass
   but the past
      continues to
 influence our consciousness, our hopes
   even our dreams

I love to delve into my ancestors, not just their names but the lives they must have experienced. I liked this poem very much Matthew...cheers Margaret

How very true, Matthew! I really like what you say here, of how the past "influences our consciousness" --indeed it does! Everything is interconnected....:)

Hollow sounds of echoes past Mathew, nice image of change.

Yes, past present future, it all weaves together. Hey, there is a new show Monday nights called Terra NOva. Have you seen it? It's pretty good. I thought of you since you enjoy sci fi or fantasy I should say. LUv, Andrea
