Of All
Of all the pretty
And beautiful words
That come to mind
None are close
To describing
The first moment
I held you
In my arms
A tear
Fell speechless
Quiet
Onto my shirt
My vocabulary
Was useless
So my mind
Stayed still
As it knew
My heart
Was to take
The lead
I look
With awe
Upon your red hair
I knew a great grandmother
That you
Have made proud
My heart
Started to melt
As I gazed your hand
As it could only grasp
Half my finger
The melt complete
As you cooed
In your sleep
I am aware
Of all the giant women
Above
That are jostling
For a look
Over my shoulder
I fell their love
Flow through
My arms
As we all
Cradle you
And know this
Little one
I did
And still do
My best
To make this
A better place
For you
And all
The rest
