Ode To Winston Churchill

Churchill's appeal reflects a unique parentage
combining  American and British heritage.

Winston Churchill, diplomat, lived with criticism,
Britain’s unstoppable prime minister showed
bulldog tenacity coupled with optimism.

His determination was revolutionary
His optimism  looked beyond the problem.
Surrender was not in this man's vocabulary.
In his words, indecision leads to mayhem.

Arrogance accounts not for the hand of God.
Avoidance weakens a man's spirit.
Architect of victory in war we applaud.

"We make a living by what we get,” his quote
(but) we make a life by what we give." he wrote.

Poteet April 9, 2018 at 8:08 AM Thanks, again for your trek thru my recent poems. We trekked to The British Isles and found Blenheim Palace, where Churchill was born in 2009 I think.

Sara Kendrick April 1, 2018 at 7:48 AM I really like the last two lines. Great intuition flowed from this man's lips. Enjoyed reading this one. Thanks for the visit to my page "Burlap and Satin". My family had hard times when I was growing up but theirs was nothing to compare to the person you mentioned who was held captive in the Philipines during WWII. Wearing underwear of flour sack cloth had to be rough because it was a very thick and durable cloth and would rub the skin. I remember those blouses made of the cloth ..SK Reason A.
