Ode To the Sisters
Oh, you goddesses ~ pretty Pleiades of stars
Shinning above in distant blue merriment's glee
Sisters adorn the sky as nightly jewels of ours
To grace the Titan Atlas ~ his daughters carefree
Stunning as their mother Pleione ~ gathered still
We look upon their light with hearts of divine thrill
Alas, the God of hunt ~ the giant Orion
In love he fell, with sisters all, upon their meet
Pursued them daily like a mountain lion
Till Zeus did change his girls to doves ~ they fly so sweet
To sky up high they went to be a part of Bull
You see but six as one became a comet, full
We celebrate the story of their beauty fair
When dance and song and poetry expressed our loves
To keep our daughters safe from Gods, we do beware
Or see them fly from you like early morning doves
Rejoice each night when seen their joyous glitter smiles
Together they are ~ our sisters in all our trials
