Ode To the Muse

You come to me in the still of the night, I’m awakened by your presence beside, You come and bring inspiration and light, These you give to me and make them reside, They come in an amiable serene flow, Dark and murky waters become crystal clear, My mind goes on a voyage unrestraint, You come with shimmer and make all aglow, I am saddled no more with gripping fear, I am back in my form, with no constraint. I have waited for this moment and time, Days have gone by with nothing to inspire, All you gladly give with no cost and dime, I had wanted to sit back and retire, Until you came with reassuring hope, Your arrival heralded a new dawn, You open the door that leads to real mirth, I can take my journey, face all and cope, All that perturbs and troubles me are gone, It’s an awakening call and a rebirth. Oh! Stay close and commune betimes with me, Let me be forever endeared to you, Guide me and make all obvious to see, I will make ready a table for two, Distraught and despondency held the reins, Gloom held sway and pervaded the expanse, What I sought for came in shadowed array, Your come to me is like awaited rains, The parched and barren rejoice, sing and dance, The dying blossom as springtime in May.
