Ode To a Past Lover
Dear Frances, wherever you are
i will always remember you
it's been a month since I heard your voice
it's been two months since i kissed your lips
I know now that togetherness will never be
we'll never be
can we even be friends?
what I'm feeling deep inside me
I know I really love you
couldn't we just talk about things?
stop holding grudges
we both were childish and stubborn
I remember a beautiful woman
with silky hair and Chinese brown eyes
the picture you drew for me, the songs you sang
do you remember the poems I wrote?
all the love songs we sang together?
I still remember kissing your soft lips
I remember looking into your eyes as we made love
distant memories rattling in my head
you have no idea how I feel
remember all the good things
maybe someday things won't be so gray
maybe someday we can put away the past
and maybe even be friends
