Notes About The Poem

Resubmitted for 2025 Poetry Marathon Mile 3 Poetry Contest sponsored by Mark Toney

Odd Petaled Daisy

a chance meeting
digits fleeting
each I could recall

days so lazy
odd petaled daisy
I gave you a call

from one hello
how would I know
in love I would fall

would not our fate
cooperate
you loved me not at all

fifty Summers passed
they seemed so fast
then another Fall

and in the end
we became friends
under daisy's thrall

This is a very different look at romance. I suppose the ending will come later. I am in suspense.

Dear david, this is so poetic and so heartfelt how youv written this poem and how your words just flow! I especially loved “ days so lazy odd petaled daisy I gave you a call from one hello how would I know in love I would fall“ sometimes we dont expect somethings to go certain ways, to end up going through them, and your poem the ending is so poignant yet shows acceptance! I loved the title too! Pleasure reading your work today. Sending you light always

Thanks Ink, by the way, today, I was googling Maldives. I'm pretty ignorant, so it was interesting.
