Odd Couple

An ugly, old fellow reaches high
Through his gold and many fine lines
He grabs youth and beauty he lacks
The cursed blessing twice it blacks
The odd couple consummates ambitions’
Love; rather than Love’s ambitions
The exchange, rather short
Owing to the tragedy of life
The young must do the striving;
For the old will still be dying.
