October Sky

Almost the middle of October
the sky is still light blue
windy and cozy days still prevail
winter will soon step in to face you.

If only we could save some fall days
turn the clock back, savor the sun
when the cold begins to knock
don’t open the door, autumn is not done

Scavengers scurry, gathering up food to stock
now it’s time for the foliage to parade
but now that the clock is behind time
October saunters, winter will be delayed
