October

O October.
How I love the sound of your name,
But not the presence
Of your hurricanes.

O October.
September gave us Helene.
And she was such a beast.
Just 13 days later,
You brought us Milton.
And he was a monster.

O October.
You are halfway to November,
With 16 more days to share.
Please 'stand down' if you dare,
And show us all that you care.

O October.
We were no match
For your monstrous storm.
Our lives have been shattered,
Twisted, and torn.

O October.
So many losses;
And so much pain
That will long remain.

O October.
I beg of you.
Help the Gulf waters to cool.
Please apply the Golden Rule.

O October.
So many have lost their homes;
And hundreds are forever gone.
