Ocean Within a Cage

gentle streams drip out
leaking from my cage
as i lay there
emotions raining across the floor
love evaporating to salt stains
and i’m falling
an ocean opened beneath me
anything to escape, i dive down
and sink
arms wrapped around my shoulders
the tides reclaim me
as my eyes have borne them
the saltwater washes against my face
cold and rough
my thoughts fade
and my eyes open.
i’m still there.
within a prison of iron
all that’s left of the ocean
is a puddle on the floor.
