Ocean Waves

the sky is dark, sea is calm
so gentle it can cause no harm
the cold water laps my feet
so cold it takes away all the heat
i wade in to at least waist deep
finally awake from restless sleep
i sink down as cold water hits my face
everything once more in it's place
the ocean waves away all my fear
this is why i love to be here
there is nothing dangerous about the sea
for this place is a part of me
i swim down to the ocean floor
my body aches for oxygen more
i rise up again to the air
until my lungs are to fill to bare
again i sink back to the floor
as i slowing swim back to the shore
foot steps left in the sand
back to real life on the land
on the beach where we all bathe
as i say goodbye to the ocean waves
