Ocean Moods

I walk the beach early in the morning, The sand cleansed of footprints Erased like a chalkboard, The glassy calm water joins The rising orange sun After passing dark hours Kneading the sand. The sun fades to yellow The ocean mood changes as Waves spew forth In a clap of thunder The salt smell rising; The force of the water controls me: I fall and taste the salt. The water creeps up Covering the beach Filling the moats of sand castles; The afternoon sun goes from yellow to orange, The waves are ebbing, retreating.
