Observing a Woman

she is a romantic he thinks based on her muted colors her shawl and her skirt flow an old-fashioned woman his mother would have liked her he studies her hair it looks soft, yet she is not dainty she is built with a grandmother’s lap she probably has children, he surmises. based on her lunch women with children do not save food for themselves she obviously has a man, someone who buys her books. he moves on, forgetting about her.

Interesting, indeed, how we observe people ("people-watch") then move on, going about our business, and they drift into our oblivion.
