hahaha exactly how a few poets here make me feel when I read their poems sometimes. Down to earth is what I like, even if it means not showing off vocabulary. Love this tongue in cheek parody writing. What inspired it? I used to write parodies (before I thought of myseld as a poet) REmember Weird AL?? I thought he was genius!!

You nailed it Andrea, this is parody in the vein of Weird Al, who was the king of parodies, in addition to the writers at Mad magazine, who also came up with some doozies! I remember your Christmas song parodies - so much fun. This is a reminder to myself to keep it real.

This is a fun write John, had me laughing in my chair, so hilarious, even more so when you said, if the words are understood, then their really not so good, so true...funny how some poets do just that, they write with such high sounding words...dazzle twits with your wits...love that obfuscation...gotta fave this one.

Glad you liked in John, and I do appreciate the fave. As I was telling SO, it serves as a reminder to myself not to use words to impress or confuse, though I do enjoy a tasteful amount of ambiguity. Thanks for the visit and kind words.

I enjoyed this; it was something I began singing almost immediately now I have to run for a dictionary.

It is a catchy tune, isn't it? Hard to get it out of your brain once it's there. Thanks for the visit, Caren.

Interesting poem, I think you are right, many like to play the game of obfuscation, some have no choice.. an Interesting 'out of the box' theme for this contest...

Thank you, SO. The contest was described as "anything goes", so I thought I'd run this up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes. Not meant as a knock towards any of our wonderful Soup poets, it's a reminder to myself not to bloviate or prevaricate (oops I just did, didn't I?)

As schoolboys, we used to sing a parody to this tune called "Suffocation". Thanks for the visit Tom ~ John
