Oasis
Oasis
I long to escape into night like into black water,
To take refuge in the darkness that keeps my secrets,
I never forget to desire it, it is my blind faith,
One day I'll leave and I'll never come back again.
I'd like to rewrite myself in a slow dream,
In a song that only breathes when you listen to it in silence,
To live between the high and low notes of the melody,
A fleeting memory that melts on the tongue like sugar.
A thing of ephemeral existence and bittersweet taste after,
I'd like to change my name to something that no longer exists,
To disappear into an unknown place where maps are blank,
To wash my anguish until it becomes house, until it becomes home.
To live among strangers who don't know who I was yesterday,
To make of those strangers blank canvases on which I paint myself,
My better version, the one I didn't dare to be,
The one who smiles without lying, the one who sleeps without nightmares.
I wish to dissolve into stars like salt in the ocean of night,
To float in the stillness of space where vacuum is cathedral,
Where the absence of noise cuts my thoughts at the root,
So that I have time to decide my fate without echoes.
Because all I've ever sought was simple peace,
That banal peace that others have without asking for it,
I'll go anywhere I can find it, even into nonexistence,
Even into the place where I'm no longer me, but another being.
