O Spring, O Life,

O Spring, O Life, where art thou? Everywhere I look, new-born life: flowers are singing, birds dancing, while squirrels play away the day-- But there still is death in the air, an ugly, cold-hearted killer too tiny to see but big enough to lay waste to mighty nations-- none are invincible, no army, no air force, no navy can resist-- This murderer has only one real enemy, and mighty it is-- the human spirit to live, the human heart to love, the human soul to endure, a trinity inseparable, undeniable, so even death must pause....

While nature goes about its normal everyday life, ours is disrupted; that virus has changed our way of living. But as you say, human spirit, heart and soul will eventually win the day! Regards // paul

Amen Eve! I see the widespread panic as indicating a widespread atheism in our society where people see nothing existing beyond this world.

LJ, profound write. I like your use of personification both of the "murderer" and of the human heart, soul and spirit. So glad you posted this poem!

You are right--the human spirit will win in the end--but for now this enemy feels so powerful defying even the mightiest. Well written, apt poem, LJ.

Thanks Vijay-- perhaps this is nature's [or God's] way of teaching us vain humans a little humility--at thee very least, not to take life for granted.
