O Pups Could Read

o puppies could read...
they'd see their master's... not friends
hypocrites
o puppies could read...
they'd have reasons to fear words
newspaper thunder
stroke... a loving pat
learn... read their body language
cowering... they've read yours
a dog... a life friend
broken hearts I've seen them mend
they read the moment
o pups could read
they do... smells... sights... sounds...
rustling newspaper
Squidgy... my pet dog
my friend... my brother... died...
still... he walks with me
