O Hunter
Be proud while you can, O Hunter,
While the skill and wit are yours,
Combined with youth's strong vigor,
Or Age's canny ways.
Be proud while you can, O Hunter,
And send your arrow true,
Deep into the heart of the greatest beast,
That rules in the frosty pines.
Be proud while you can, O Hunter,
For this year you still strike fear.
Remember that the fire grows cold,
Though hot it once began.
Be proud while you can, O Hunter,
For life, too, plays the game.
And one day the arrow comes for you,
And takes its prize the same.
