Notes About The Poem

O Christmas Star

O Christmas Star
you’re kinda far.
Far kinder still
in Bethlehem,
but the inn was sold
out, and a birthday
spent with the lowest rent.
Humble I,
knees on pavement
see you star,
so far off,
not so near the moon,
though my fingers
think they know —
the world is flat.
Two planets fly
somewhere way out there
“I am here! I am near!
Do you see me here?”
No acknowledgement
for the whole world is looking up
but the babe in the manger
dreamt of me
‘fore I was born.
Think of that!

He knew us before we knew Him. We rarely think of this. Nice!
