O April Rain

O April Rain you gently fall
and tap against my window pane
then slowly drip down garden wall

allowing flowers to attain
the moisture needed for to grow
and show their faces once again.

O April Rain you’ve come to show
your value in Spring’s life renew
that washes way the Winter’s woe

and kindly bid’s Jack Frost adieu.
You wake up Nature’s hues of green
while making way for May’s debut.

Your rain drops wash the air so clean
that makes our world feel fresh and pure;
you beckon Nature to convene,

and with your gentle soft allure
O April Rain our hopes assure.

What a beautiful form you chose John, we seem to have more than our fair share of 'April rain' but I do love the petrichor after a sudden shower:-) hugs jan xx

Thank you, Jan. I love that smell after a rain shower as well, especially in the summer when it has been so hot. John

This is a lovely terza rima, John. I have only done a few of them in my life as a poet. But it's a really great form.

Thanks for your visit, Cheryl, I appreciate it. We haven’t had as much rain here in Texas as normal, that may be a bad sign for late summer. John

Very nice use of images that we associate with spring, John. While I'm not familiar with this form, you certainly set an upbeat cadence. I live in Florida, but some friends up North are finally starting to see signs of spring. Well done, John! Hugs, carolyn

Carolyn, thanks so much for your comments. I like to use this form for nature writes because it has such a nice flow to it. I live in Texas and spring arrived about six weeks ago for us; and as a bonus we haven't had any severe weather yet. Thanks for your visit. John

I always did love a rainy day, especially in spring, it clears all away making room for scented flowers and all.

Ah yes, nothing more relaxing than a gentle rain tapping on the window and then when the skies clear to walk outside and enjoy the freshness of the air. Thank you for your visit, Pixie, I appreciate it. John
