Number One

Number One I've missed a few holidays-more than my shares of birthdays. But I've never missed a Mothers Day,thats one I've never missed. I've made you proud and glowing, but I brought you shame as well. I've got you to smile- and even laugh. So will I still go to hell? We've had our tender moments. I've known a mothers love, I've felt the depths of saddness-and the warmth of the sun above. I guess I'm at a crossroad- My life now more than half passed. My hourglass of life, its sands slip by so fast. I didn't write too many words-for you-my loving "mom". I can't say why I haven't-since my words won't cause you harm. So now here on this Mothers Day.With you so far away. I felt I had to write you this-These things I have to say. I wish you all the smiles,on all the faces-- here on earth. You have to know I've loved you.-Since my first breath at birth. I'm sorry for times I've hurt you and the wrongs things I have done, I know that I was born first, but thats not why you call me "number one". I'll spend the time that we have left, always trying to make you smile, I hope you'll see my love for you-has been here all the while. RJM 2011
