Notes About The Poem

Numb Heart

He sits under the maple
on the bench they used to share,
surveys the flames of autumn
but within he’s cold and bare.
She left home with secret beau,
and her name is now taboo.

I envisage a falling of tears in amongst a falling of leaves and a heart that burns in the flames of Autumn. Your six lines of wonderful imagery had me reading your poem a few times Paul. Congratulations on your place with your beautifully poignant poem. Cheers - Gary
