Nuclear War Wished For

A nuclear war wished for

There is among the youth of the West an ingrained boredom
a hidden wish to swipe away from the old world they live in
they can’t see for mist on windows and need to clear the view
the dream of an exploding world where they will be survivors.
If a few survive. they will soon wish they hadn’t the destruction
will be complete, save from cockroaches and perhaps
a few ulcerated dogs will die of starvation.
As for the rich, in their bunkers, will turn against one another
eat their children and finally open the door to an empty world
Their scream for mercy to an absent god will echo forever.
