Notes About The Poem

Neither presidential candidate is worth losing a friendship. I would even venture to say even a new acquaintance... Shame on the process and the powers that be for letting this happen. The powers that be? We the people.

November's Getting Closer

November's Getting Closer

November's getting closer
Static's in the air
Some saying what they're feeling
Risking friendships; they don't care

Two are in the running
Neither one is very grand
Neither worth a friendship
No matter where you stand

I see nothing really positive
That says vote for either one
God help us help the winner
Doubt either will be fun

Both think they walk on water
Turn the water into wine
Turn a few fish into many
So all of us may dine

We know that none of these are true
For both are ego rich
No matter who's elected
Life, for us, will be a *****

Heed to what I'm saying
Don't for either risk a friend
Need to be there for each other
When this election's at its end

I like this, Franklin. You are so right when you say this election isn't worth losing friends over. These are scary times! Blessings!
