Nova
Inside us all is a brilliant star,
A star shining brightly,
Guiding our way,
And when we get older,
The star gets older too,
The light in it dims,
The light on our errant path fades,
And we wander in the dark,
Tripping on our own feet.
There is a spark of the star,
Deep inside,
The spark will be lit when we leave,
And our star will be added to others,
Others who have found their way,
Others with the star,
The star that is in them
Never truly burned out,
And they never truly forgot it was there,
They just pretended it wasn’t,
Put it under a blanket,
Stowed it away,
Determined to find their own way,
Through the pitch black of night,
Without the help of their star.
When they met the light at the End,
The End of all things,
The star was lit again,
To guide and guide and guide,
Never letting us off the path,
Always our light in the dark.
