Nothing Works But the Gun

That's what it feels like
in this contemporary 21st Century
Mass murders, massacres
a daily occurrence

Is this what makes
the World tick?
Nothing Works But The Gun
It seems as if

we bow down, worship
this mechanical destruction
of our societies
There has to be a better way

You're not safe anywhere:
on streets; at concerts;
in schools (even elementary):
shopping; driving: etc!

It's a shame
that we can't enjoy life
without these concerns.
When will we learn?

They say "Nothing Works But The Gun."

Hi Frank, I enjoyed reading your poem - potent words, well described. My husband and I had to bow down to guns, one pointed at each of us, very traumatic! Regards, Jenny.
