Nothing Shall Remain

In the silence of lonely nights is where I hide the words I should have said. Where used to rest our melodic harmonies now lies a forsaken tune, Drowned out by sorrowful stillness. The wind blows through the open window, carrying away our song, Leaving only an echo of what once was. This song, once telling of the unbreakable bonds of love, Is now blown away like the feelings I once thought eternal. The once-sweet melody turns bitter to the senses, A darkening sliver of past moonlit memories that shall never again be. Our story slips into shadows as our song becomes one with the stars. Regrets intertwine with feelings engraved in the heart, A tree scarred with the initials of a long lost love. Feelings of embrace fade with their discreet goodbyes, No longer reminiscing a love hidden in the twilight of our past. Stars whisper their gentle farewell, Grasping the last notes of our song grown cold. But even now, the song fades; the tunes fade; these words fade. Nothing shall remain.
