Nothing But Rain

Today is rain, nothing but rain
The ground speckled, splattered, induced
Clouds bursting, full to the brim
People scuttle to avoid

Sounds are muffled, reduced
Steel glistens, a moment restored
The sun is pealing, waiting turn
My clothing wet, darker still

It has been so hot, welcome reprise
Not cold yet warming still
A shower from heaven so it seems
To clean and replenish all around

I can smell the rain this time
Fresh, clear, metallic somewhere
Quiet everything out with inside
Of my heart, soul and mind

My mouth open, I catch a drop
First one, then two, now three
Whilst others complain, me happy that
Today is rain, nothing but rain
