Not What It Seems

she heartily laughs as her mirth rings out like teeth grinding on some piece of rusk; sweetly she smiles and makes you think you are the only focus of her attention; she is the life of the party, casting her spell - she smiles, she fascinates, she entertains, a tireless pretty dynamo in constant motion, the center of attention that everybody loves, her flawless grace radiating so brightly; people confide in her without hesitation, she knows every little secret in this town that she keeps close to her chest somehow; she gives advice, oh how she gives them! breakdown of a relationship? no problem, cheer up, buddy, she will lift up your spirit; she is at home among the cream of society, the beautiful crowd with fame and fortune; she is a jetsetter driven by her wanderlust courtesy of friends without lifting a finger; strange then that she was found one morning, prone inside her bedroom, naked and lifeless, next to an empty vial of pills and a short note "I have had enough of this meaningless life"; a soul among a rowdy company yet so alone, now her laughter will ring out no more again; soon another will take over her place to play among the debutantes, zombies, and jokers; no one is the wiser in this game called living because truly, there really is none.
