Not Too Busy To Go To the Funeral

The tears at funerals are often due to regret.
Tell them you love them now, or better yet,
SHOW them you love them, before it’s too late.
Show them while they are here to appreciate.
Kind words and flowers after they pass away,
Are just a little too late, wouldn’t you say?

Thanks Terry. Your affirmation is appreciated. I know its said that funerals are for the loved ones left behind, but every funeral I have been to, it seems it puts the loved ones under much unnecessary stress, expense and sorrow. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I think funerals are upsold by the ones destined to make the most profit from them. I don't think anyone except businesses benefit from funerals. That's just my personal opinion, anyone reading this that doesn't agree, I totally acknowledge everyone's right to their own opinion. Thanks for your comment Terry its appreciated. Best wishes SV

I so hold to your sentiments expressed in this poem Svvie! For me, funerals, and even wakes, are for the living not for the dead. And visitations? With whom? Again, the living. So, these rituals are used for the grieving process of friends and family. They do nothing for the dead. LOL

You are right. We attend for the loved ones, its a mark of respect offered to them, for the departed. You just balanced the scales and put the poem in the right perspective. It needed doing. You are such a friend. Thank you. Laf.
