Not Today
Your fingers have bled for this,
skin smoothed from the jagged climb.
Every load you carried, every silent shout—
they brought you here, to be sure?
You occasionally think about the fall,
its quiet promise of relief.
But then you recall
how you yelled back at the universe
when it tried to bury you.
Let go?
Not today.
