Not Time For Me
Somehow I lost track of my age
Keen with sight and mind of sage
Watching chic’s only, not to engage
Wishful thinking but let’s turn the page.
A cake full of candles light up the room
if the frosting was combustive I’d go boom
the weight of all the candles made it sag
I must be rather old but I won’t brag.
You see I am whole and not just a link
never liked carrot juice or that Geritol drink
I expect someday I will get a call
that someone is waiting for me in the hall.
the light can shine down upon me I don’t care
I am not about to leav… I swear
they can send down a search party of troops
I love it here so I will make another loop.
Each day I live that’s one less day that I don’t
Let the train go back empty, all aboard I won’t
Birthdays come but once a year
Every time it does it brings such good cheer.
Made it over the mountains and drove on proud
Won’t accept the sullen sky with its grim dark cloud
Heaven is peaceful which we all know
but I’m living longer, I just won’t go.
