Not so platonic

Yellow in your eyes—
seemed bright, but honeyed words didn’t feel right.

Letters that questioned truth and dare,
asked other girls—
green-eyed, now I won’t spare.

Engraved in my head, the lesson’s clear:
Don’t forget.
Player, player—why would he care?
Saw those chats, I won’t spare.

A green flag in your eyes
But I fear the truth hides in disguise
You call me dear, so sweet, so sincere yet ain’t near—
Near? a year wasted still I’m here
Your heart, though, never truly here
Sometimes, I wish the word heart could disappear

Lied in my face,
stuck in a maze,
one i did escape

Never revealed,
never said–
feelings could cage me so don’t forget.

The ear will hear ,
the heart will cheer
Not so sunshine
nights in tears?
in my sight
“This isn’t you” is my fear

Hits and slits—
the blood drips.
I won’t trust you—this line hits.

A picture I made in my mind
Some unsaid things I’ve left behind
My heart trembles—the reply won’t be kind
So I stayed quiet, and shut my mind

Sidled up next to me,
probably forgotten did he?
Was that something?
Attraction, maybe.

Maybe I’m right, maybe I’m wrong—
But if that’s the case—
I’m already lost in your gaze.

Not so platonic—
Definitely ironic,
But still iconic.

Knew our hearts—platonic don’t relate.
I won’t date.
That’s what I hate.
