NOT SAVING, BUT THE TRUTH

The world talks of lifting you
sending hands and prayers
but you don’t need saving
you need someone to tell the truth.

The rivers remember every broken promise
the soil remembers the blood and tears
the children don’t cry for aid
they cry to be seen, to be heard.

Stop painting hope with other people’s hands
stop speaking words you don’t feel
South Sudan doesn’t need rescuing
it needs honesty, raw and unafraid.

Let your voices rise
let the lies fall away
let the story be told as it is
and maybe then the healing can begin.
